Daniel 2:21-22 - Tents and Time

Step 1: Pray. Select.

Step 1: Pray. Select.

This morning, I sat down to pray, and immediately, the Holy Spirit put the words 'times and seasons' in my heart. As I researched various scriptures related to the matter, I came across Daniel 2:21 - 22.

I feel like the Holy Spirit is eager to get started, so without further delay, let’s begin our journey, friends.

Step 2: Write. Read. Circle

After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:

Daniel 2: 21 - 22

21And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
22 He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.

Step 3: Re-Write

With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.

  • Jennifer, times and seasons, He gives wisdom, reveals secret things.

If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.

Step 4: Visualize

As I close my eyes to meditate on the sentence the Holy Spirit has given me today, I begin to picture the universe as a series of multiple dimensions. The best way I can describe what I am seeing in my head is to imagine if each dimension in space is layered, one stacked on top of another.

From the side, it resembles a cake with many layers, but upon closer inspection, you can see that there is tremendous depth, and it is incredibly dense and porous. If you were to examine each layer on a microscopic level, you would find many unexplored caves to enter, leading to adventure and discovery.

I am in some type of aircraft that is round and made of glass, which allows me to fly around, inspect the dimensions from the outside in space, and eventually choose which layer to explore.

The interesting thing about this vision is that every dimension operates on its own time. Some more slowly than others. The one constant is that God has created it all. He knows exactly how each layer was made, how it functions, and what it is composed of. We do not.

The Holy Spirit is telling me that once you enter any one of these layers, the LORD will help you navigate inside. So, in essence, you have to enter on blind faith and surrender to his voice, or you could get lost and stuck in that space and time forever.

As I continue to examine the infinite layers to enter, the Holy Spirit tells me to pay attention to which layer is calling to me. It is within that layer that there is a harvest waiting. The one thing he reminds me of is that it is just a season; I am not meant to stay there forever, since there are so many layers to explore within my lifetime before going home to stay with my Father.

I have a question for the Holy Spirit, so I move to Step 5.

Step 5: Ask. Seek

The requests/questions that came to mind are:

  • Holy Spirit, what happens if I enter one season and I stay too long? Will I miss what you have for me?

Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive

Here is the answer I received:

“I do warn you of staying in places too long, therefore making them your idol and taking your focus away from me and my will. However, you know my nature of mercy and grace. The key is to remember that when you lose sight of me in any season, close your eyes and listen to my instructions. I will guide you to a new space to make up for lost time. While on Earth, you are pitching tents for times and seasons of this life, but your permanent residency is with me in eternity. Do not cast lots in temporary places. I am a moving God. Where I go, you shall follow and not look back. You are my people, and I am your God. For I have knowledge and wisdom to reveal to you the depth of my creation, and only I know what each layer consists of. I have already gone before you. I call to you to enter, and I make a path for you to leave. You will be blessed going in and coming out. The important thing is you do not stay in the temporary. Pay attention to my voice. Let it take up residency in your mind. If you hold onto anything, hold tight to my voice, for the world is fleeting like your thoughts. Take refuge in the rock and the solidarity of the wisdom and power of the Most High. My ways are not your ways. I am with you. Hold my hand. I am the only constant. Go forward and explore, but remember to keep me close and don’t wander too far.”

Step 7: Pray. Confirm

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the mighty name of Jesus.

I ask that I stay brave to enter places you call me, even though I cannot see what is inside that space and time, and my life. Let me trust that if you are calling me, you already have a place for me to pitch a tent until the day you tell me to move and follow you back out.

Thank you for removing the time factor from my equation, since you can restore all things, taking me from glory to glory as long as I remain obedient to your voice and your instruction.

Let me venture into new seasons without fear, and know that you will provide for all my needs.

I ask this in Jesus' mighty name, and seal this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus - Amen!

Conclusion:

Friends, we need to pay attention to the wisdom and discernment of the LORD. He knows when we should enter a season and when to move us to a new land with a new harvest, making up for any lost time along the way.

Have faith that no time is wasted in God's time since he is the one who created all the layers of your life, and He doesn't do anything to harm us. So, if you have entered one season of your life full of challenges or delays, remember the LORD can bend time in your favor, having you enter another season or layer of life to allow you to catch up. Nothing is lost in God's time.

I understand from today's message that the only thing that should be a permanent residency for us during our time here on earth is his voice in our minds, for he knows the way to eternity and has already seen the places we will enter in every step of our journey along the way.

God bless you. See you soon!
