Amos 3:7 - His Words, His Way

Step 1: Pray. Select.

Today, something exciting happened. The Holy Spirit brought back a memory from over twenty years ago of something I had prophesied, and like a lightning bolt, it hit me: I was actually living the moment the Lord had told me one day would come to pass right now!

I realized at the moment that sometimes the craziest things we say, like, “Here is something crazy, one day I hope…” (you can fill in the blank with a wild thought that seemed extremely far-fetched at the time), might actually come true. My jaw is on the floor right now in the realization that God had a plan, and it is coming true right now.

I began to search for scriptures on how the Lord prophecies to His people in the Bible, and I came across Amos 3:7. This is where I started my journey, friends, so I moved on to STEP 2.

Step 2: Write. Read. Circle

After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:

Amos 3:7

Surely the Lord God does nothing,
Unless He
reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

Step 3: Re-Write

With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here are the personalized sentence(s) that came alive in my heart.

  • Jennifer, the Lord God reveals His secrets to His prophets.

If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.

Step 4: Visualize

I close my eyes and think about my sentence coupled with the moment from over twenty years ago. It is true. The Lord God reveals His secrets to His prophets. The Holy Spirit prompts me to examine the words' prophet' and 'prophecy' a bit more. So, I dive in further.

As I search for how prophecy is defined in scripture, the following scriptures stand out, which I feel offer a clear and concise understanding of prophecy as described in the Kingdom:

Jeremiah 1:9

Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.”

2 Peter 1:21

“for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

I think about how the words were put into my mouth years ago by God. I am a mere vessel. We must understand that when you receive a prophecy, it must be put into your mouth by the Holy Spirit. It doesn’t say to interpret, just deliver as is. You should speak out loud and tell someone about a word you have received and wait for it to be confirmed by the Lord. Once it is confirmed, then you will testify how the Lord brought these things to fruition in due time. I believe being a prophet involves being obedient and walking a careful line of receiving, never getting ahead of oneself. Habakkuk 2:2 provides clear instructions for writing down a vision that is yet to come for an appointed time. If you receive this type of prophecy, it is advised to write it down and make it plain so those who run can read it when with urgency and haste as the idea, thought, concept, or message comes to pass.

The Holy Spirit wants me to focus on the fact that it has been prophesied in the last days that Jesus will be seen more frequently through a variety of gifting. The following scripture beautifully encompasses what I am experiencing right now!

Joel 2:28

“And it shall come to pass afterward

That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Your old men shall dream dreams,

Your young men shall see visions.”

I have a question in my mind, so I proceed to Step 5.

Step 5: Ask. Seek

The requests/questions that came to mind are:

  • Holy Spirit, why did my prophesy from over twenty years ago come to fruition today?

Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive

Here is the answer I received:

”Just as you were not to interpret when it was received, you are to simply note it for now. You know through the word that the Lord is with you. It is in these moments he has revealed himself to you to tell you - keep going! You are on the right track. You must continue to seek him in all things and make sure you write things down and make them plain as you are instructed. Others will need this testimony, and the Lord does not give you these experiences to hold them close to your chest and not share them with the world. When you share testimony, pay attention to even non-believers as you watch their faces light up with questioning and intrigue. These are the seeds to grow trees of testimony in the future. We are living in a time when people are asleep or under the spell of the enemy, and they need to be woken up. This flicker of light and intrigue will guide them back to me. You must let them know where the confirmation or revelation came from. It is important. What you write down must be plain, so when the time comes, and the words need to be picked up, the person or persons the prophecy is intended for can run with it and warn or prophesy to others. You are the branches, and I am the tree. Jesus was the vine, and you are the leaves. Let my seed land on new soil, ready to be saved. Do not shout from the rooftops, but what is done in secret will be rewarded in Heaven. This is the word of the Lord; let us rejoice and be glad in it. He has a plan!”

Step 7: Pray. Confirm

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus.

I will start to write down these miracle moments plainly for those who follow this generation to see. It is the way you have prepared us with the Bible, which is living and breathing today. We can pick it up and run with it in any language, translation, and size. Your word rang true before Christ and continues to ring true now.

I will obediently tell of the miracles you are working in my life and let everyone know who I worship and who I belong to.

In Jesus' mighty name, I pray and seal this prayer with the blood of Jesus - Amen.

Step 8: Share. Testify

If you used the 8-Step Prayer Practice today, we would love to hear how God works in your life! You can comment below or share your miracle or testimony HERE.

Conclusion:

Friends, we have a duty to write down our visions and the words that the Lord gives us. We are not to interpret but instead, wait on confirmation from the Lord. Let us not get ahead of ourselves; the prophesies will come to pass in due time.

These revelations and miracles we receive as His people are proof that Jesus is still on the throne and that our Father has a plan for us, no matter what the state of the world. He is with us, and we shall not fear.

So, write it down and make it plain so those who read it can run with it!

God bless you. See you soon!
